Parents

As a parent of a College student you undoubtedly have some sort of opinion on fraternities, be it positive or negative. Those of you with positive opinions realize the value of a fraternity not only as it pertains to the college experience of your son, but also are aware of the lifelong benefits of joining a fraternity. We are aware that there is a highly negative portrayal of fraternities in the media. Movies such as Old School and Animal House portray fraternities as being a fun filled, around the clock party with few educational benefits. We at Sigma Nu are out to change that perception. While it is important for the college student to have fun from time to time, we believe that it must be balanced with hard work.

Leadership

As a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity your son will gain valuable experiences and skills which will help him succeed in the world long after his college days are over. Running a fraternity is much like running a business. Officers are elected to act as President, Vice-President, Treasurer, and so on. Committees are formed to accomplish specific tasks within the chapter. Each officer, committee chair, and committee member is given responsibilities which will directly affect the success or failure of the fraternity. As an officer or committee chair your son will gain real life experience running a business. But most importantly, he will learn the invaluable skill of leadership.

Academics

Sigma Nu places a strong focus on academics. We know that the reason we are here is to learn, and succeed in the classroom as well as outside of it. Members of Sigma Nu instantly gain access to brothers who can help them succeed in class through tutoring and advice. Mandatory study hours are held, and members are required to maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5.

Alumni Connection

When your son joins Sigma Nu he will instantly gain access to thousands of successful Alumni nationwide who provide for excellent networking opportunities. Now more than ever, while it's important to possess knowledge, it is perhaps just as important to establish working relationships with successful people. These relationships lead to job opportunities in some of the most highly respected industries.

Non-Hazing

Sigma Nu is a non-hazing fraternity. Sigma Nu Candidates are educated using the L.E.A.D. program, which is a four phase leadership training course. This program teaches the ideals and ethics of Sigma Nu, and is designed to help your son develop leadership skills that can have a dramatic influence on the future success of your son.

Philanthropy

Sigma Nu is committed to giving back to the community thought philanthropy. All members are required to serve the community during the semester through both group and individual activities. This experience is an important one what we hope will foster a passion in your son to constantly be working to improve the community.
